Examines environmental challenges to modern civilizations: overuse of natural resources to support and absorb the consequences of human activities. Focuses on human abilities to cope with these challenges by exploring features of human action, culture, economic structure, organizational forms and values, such as sustainability. SOCI 1001 is recommended as a prerequisite but not required.
