Introduction to principles of social research and methods of inquiry, including research design, conducting research, analyzing data and critically evaluating research findings. Comparison and critique of the predominant methods of social research, the relationship between methods and knowledge production, and the goals and ethical implications of research. Devotes class time to the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and to written communication of research findings for various audiences.
