An introductory survey of the discipline that develops the conceptual tools to empirically observe and analyze social patterns of human behavior. Explores the ways individuals are embedded in and affected by larger social systems, cultures, and institutions. Topics may include socialization, culture, conformity and nonconformity, social identity and interaction, institutions, social power, and inequalities such as sexism, racism and poverty/wealth.
