Catalog description

Focuses on research design principles relevant to the conduct of science. Emphasizes internal, construct and external validity, with particular attention to applied settings and applied problems including marketing research, field research, focus groups, program evaluation and web-based surveys. Advanced review of descriptive, correlational experimental and quasi-experimental research methods and ethics. Emphasizes the development of skills in critical analysis of data from real-world settings. Covers basic principles of experimental and non-experimental designs; principles of psychometrics relating to study design (including reliability and validity); strategies of data analysis and data collection methods; factors related to data validity, such as diversity and inclusiveness in design, analysis and interpretations; and the presentation of results to interested parties.
