Explores the biological foundations of emotion and other affective states. Emphasizes the role of the nervous system (including brain, hormones, neurons, physiology) in the elaboration of affective states (e.g. sexual behavior, fear, social isolation, feeding, joy, pain) in both animals and humans. Includes study of current technologies for visualizing brain processes.
