Physiology of Activity

Catalog description
Introduces the physiological responses and adaptations to physical activity and exercise, with emphasis on clinical application in physical therapy. Students study cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine and metabolic during activity, as well as adaptations to training and the effects of inactivity. Laboratory sessions provide hands-on experience in vital sign assessment and therapeutic exercise prescription. Special consideration is given to exercise responses in diverse patient populations, including those with cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, musculoskeletal, and oncologic conditions.
