Examines the fundamental claims and presuppositions of moral philosophy in light of theoretical and empirical advances in philosophy, psychology and neuroscience. Explores such topics as moral cognition and moral motivation; freedom and responsibility, as well as the related phenomena of weakness of will and addiction; the nature of moral emotions, such as guilt, shame, and disgust; moral character, situationism, and the problem of moral luck; and the challenges to moral theorizing raised by such conditions as psychopathy and “disorders of agency.”
