Catalog description

Studies fundamental issues about the nature of symbolic systems, including language. Possible topics include: intention-based, use-based, truth-conditional and verificationist theories of meaning; the indeterminacy of translation; proper names and reference; theories of definite descriptions; the nature of demonstrative and indexical expressions; and theories of metaphor.
