Community Development fills the gap when market forces are not sufficient to provide all communities with available housing, jobs, and other quality-of life-resources. Understanding racial equity is foundational to understanding Community Development. Racial equity is when someone’s quality of life is not predetermined by race. Topics covered include frameworks to identify root causes of racial inequity in housing, logic models to plan community change, and identifying how regulations of land, banking and tax systems can be used to drive equitable outcomes.
