Catalog description

An in-depth analysis of French philosophical, testimonial, cinematic and literary representations of the Holocaust. Questions to be investigated include What is “genocide”? What conditions (deprivations of which types of basic needs) make genocide possible? What does it mean to “bear witness”? What is the relationship between “truth” and “testimony”? What is our responsibility (as individuals and as a community) vis-à-vis the prevention of such atrocities? Taught in English.
