Basic methodological issues in the study of crime, criminals, and the law; principles, purposes, and limits of research; introduction to empirical research design and methods of inquiry, including formulating and testing hypotheses, sampling procedures, data collection techniques, and ethical issues in preparation of research reports. May not be taken for credit by students who have received credit for SOCI 3050 .
