Introduction to the Fire Service (3 Credit Hours – Area V) This course teaches the many functions of the fire service, its importance and origins. It is designed to acquaint the student with the philosophy and history of the fire service and fire protection, the exacting loss of life and property, and the organization and function of public and private fire protection agencies. Emphasis is placed on the organization and function of federal, state, county, city, and private fire protection. As required by program
