Foundational Sciences III: Pathophysiology and Pharmacology introduces DPT learners to comprehensive knowledge of normal physiological mechanisms and pathophysiological processes across major body systems, including the endocrine/metabolic, cardiovascular/hematologic, neurological, musculoskeletal, renal/urologic, and genital/reproductive systems. Learners examine how disease processes affect individual systems and create interactions across multiple body systems. Learners integrate pharmacological principles, lifespan development, psychosocial influences, nutritional factors, and diagnostic imaging to develop clinical reasoning skills necessary for interpretation of pathophysiological presentations relevant to physical therapy practice.
