Catalog description

Systems-Based Practice I is the first in a four-course series in which DPT learners examine the structures, policies, and processes that shape physical therapy practice within the broader healthcare system. Learners explore healthcare delivery systems, reimbursement models, and healthcare policies, as well as the ethical and legal considerations related to documentation, billing, and data security. Quality improvement is addressed through the identification of system failures and the application of health informatics to enhance safety and efficiency. Population health concepts, including social determinants of health and healthcare disparities are analyzed to prepare learners to advocate for accessible, patient- centered care.
