Evidence-Informed Practice I

Evidence-Informed Practice I is the first of a two-course series that introduces DPT learners to the principles and processes of evidence-informed practice, preparing learners as excellent consumers of evidence by integrating research synthesis with clinical expertise and patient values. In this course, DPT learners formulate clinical questions using structured frameworks, develop comprehensive search strategies across multiple databases, and critically appraise evidence for quality and clinical applicability. Emphasis is placed on differentiating levels of evidence, evaluating research designs and methodology, interpreting descriptive and inferential statistics, and assessing risk of bias. Ethical principles are explored related to application in research practices.
