Catalog description

This course examines how sociocultural, socioeconomic, and epidemiological factors shape health and occupational participation. Students will explore how personal factors and cultural practices influence occupational therapy service delivery and client engagement. Drawing from interdisciplinary perspectives, including Franciscan values and the social sciences, the course analyzes social determinants of health and their impact on people with chronic conditions or disabilities. Emphasis is placed on the historical and philosophical foundations of occupational therapy and the value of occupation as a health- promoting strategy.
