Focused Intervention Strategies

Catalog description

This course introduces focused intervention strategies that enhance client safety, independence, and participation across diverse settings. Students explore practice areas including physical agent modalities, orthotics and prosthetics, assistive technology, driver rehabilitation, community mobility, and telehealth. Emphasis is placed on safe selection and application of therapeutic agents and adaptive devices under occupational therapist supervision. Through labs, simulations, and case-based activities, students apply biomechanical, cognitive, and environmental principles to implement evidence-based interventions and develop skills in assistive technology and orthotic fabrication. The course integrates instructional design, outcome evaluation, and research interpretation to promote professional communication and collaboration, and lifelong evidence-informed practice.
