Older Adult Intervention Stategies

Catalog description
This course builds on foundational OT principles by examining the unique needs, conditions, and occupational performance patterns of older adults across diverse settings. Students apply occupational therapy models, theories, and frames of reference to guide assessment, goal setting, and occupation- based interventions, while addressing functional decline, chronic conditions, cognitive and sensory changes, and environmental factors. Learners develop skills in collaborating with clients, caregivers, and interprofessional teams, promoting safety, independence, participation, and successful aging, while strengthening documentation, professional communication, and clinical reasoning.
