Fieldwork Experience IB
Marian University-Ancilla · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This Level I Fieldwork experience allows students to apply foundational client care skills through guided observation and introductory hands-on participation, including safety awareness, basic client interactions, functional mobility, transfers, and appropriate use of assistive devices and environmental modifications. Emphasis is placed on professional communication, ethical behavior, documentation awareness, client and caregiver education, and recognition of psychosocial factors that influence participation. Through supervised practice in clinical settings, students begin connecting client care and psychosocial skills to the occupational therapy process and demonstrate readiness for greater responsibility in future fieldwork experiences.
