Catalog description

This course introduces students to medical, developmental, and psychosocial conditions that impact individuals from conception to death. Emphasis is placed on understanding the interaction of client factors, body structures, and body functions as defined by the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF-4), using a systems-based approach to examine how disease processes influence occupational performance. The course also introduces students to essential educational skills, including developing learning objectives, assessing learning needs, and outlining key components of effective professional presentations. Foundational knowledge of etiology, signs and symptoms, prognoses, and current medical and therapeutic management of conditions is integrated throughout.
