Foundations of OT Practice I

Catalog description

This course introduces students to foundational concepts of occupational therapy practice, emphasizing the centrality of occupation to health and well-being. Students explore the meaning and importance of occupation across the lifespan and within cultural and social contexts, including the influence of environment and context on participation, therapeutic use of self, occupation-based activity analysis, and the process of gathering and synthesizing client information to create an occupational profile. The course prepares students to apply core occupational therapy principles and professional values as they begin developing their professional identity.
