Catalog description
This course introduces the foundations of occupational therapy, including history, philosophy, and sociopolitical influences that shape practice. Students will examine theories, models, and frames of reference, and explore the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF-4) to understand the relationship between domain, process, and the distinct role of occupation in promoting health and participation. Emphasis is placed on ethical decision-making guided by AOTA's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, exploring the Franciscan values, as well as developing a personalized plan for ongoing professional growth.
