Principles of Physics I

Catalog description

This course is the first half of the two-semester introductory physics sequence, intended for students interested in pursuing health professions, physical science, or technical problem solving skills. This course covers Newtonian mechanics in a variety of applications, as well as physical problem solving and analytical reasoning. Fluid mechanics and thermodynamics are also discussed. Algebra and trigonometry are used heavily, and prior understanding of them is assumed. The course uses some calculus concepts but prior knowledge of calculus is not assumed. There is a laboratory component in which laws of physics are experienced and tested.
