Catalog description

This course introduces nursing students to potential healthcare disparities and access to care related to race and ethnicity. Increasing evidence indicates that even after such differences are accounted for, race and ethnicity remain significant predictors in the quality of healthcare administered. A Care Plan assignment provides an opportunity for further research and study to raise awareness of healthcare discrepancies. Students consider various racial inequities that can impact and influence the medical care a patient receives, and subsequently, their quality of life.
