MAE 5110
Math for Secondary Teachers I
Manhattanville University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course is a mathematics content course for Grade 7-12 teachers and focuses on key content that teachers will need to know to be effective middle school and early high school teachers. It will dive deeply into algebra and geometry topics to help you deepen your own understanding of adolescent mathematics and understand how students think about mathematics. Through this course, students will see how the topics in 7-12 math fit together and how they fit into the broader storyline of school mathematics. We will work to make connections between mathematical ideas, revisiting and reexamining mathematics you have learned before in order to more deeply understand the underlying concepts.
