Catalog description

This course will provide multiple strategies and approaches relative to curriculum development and research-validated methods of instructing Students with Disabilities, including methods of teaching reading, writing, social studies, the sciences, and methods of enrichment and remediation in reading and mathematics for use with students with disabilities as well as those for who are English as a New Language Learners (ENLs). The course will focus on creating an environment for success, differentiated instructional techniques, multiple intelligences, literacy, math, modifications and accommodations, working effectively with students from diverse linguistic and cultural milieus, and new approaches in the implementation of Inclusion, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, curriculum development, instructional planning, and multiple research-validated instructional strategies for teaching students within the full range of abilities, and skill in designing and offering differentiated instruction that enhances the learning of all students in the content area(s) of the certificate.
