Catalog description

This course addresses the organizational, governmental, administrative, and financial underpinnings of colleges and universities in the United States. The course examines how colleges and universities emerged as one of the nation's most respected societal institutions; why decisions are made, and by whom; what challenges confront institutions and organization; and how colleges and universities can be made more effective and productive. Students learn about the core governance structures and processes of postsecondary education institutions, as well as classical and contemporary theories on higher education governance.
