Generations

Catalog description

This course is about how human generations interact and influence one another. This course will cover both familial generations (children, parents, grandparents, etc.) and "generations" in the pop-culture sense (e.g., Gens X, Z, and alpha). Topics will include how cultural values and experiences are reproduced across generations, the key role of parents and parenting, and the various factors responsible for generational "gaps." Students will be required to attend class trips to local community partners to visit with older community members throughout the term, ending with a visit to some younger community members.
