Catalog description

The first course taken by all education students seeking the baccalaureate degree. Introduces prospective education majors to the education programs at Manchester University, current issues in P-12 education, educational philosophy and challenges facing the teaching profession. Content includes professional development, decision-making, effective teaching, family involvement, culture of and in schools, professional standards, collaboration and teachers as lifelong learners. A field trip and attendance at a school board meeting are required. LA-ESS.
