Presents therapeutic medical equipment typically utilized within the perioperative and intensive care settings. Focuses on clinical applications, circuit design and circuit operation, operator controls and equipment setup, managing device alarms, addressing maintenance requirements, and meeting performance and safety standards. Emphasizes a variety of medical technologies including IV pumps, electrosurgical units, defibrillators, mechanical ventilators, anesthesia machines, infant incubators, and surgical lasers. Lecture/Laboratory: 2.0 credits (37.5 contact hours).

75Z1 notes: Prereq: BIO 135, BTS 125, and BTS 140 (each with a grade of C or better). This course is open to both non-EOA and EOA BTS program students. Online coursework is supplemented with either five on-campus lab sessions (as a non-EOA student) or equivalent use-of-time within a hospital environment (as an EOA student). On-campus lab sessions will be held on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and a repeat session will be held on the following Wednesday afternoon during the hours from 1 pm to 4 pm for those who cannot attend the Tuseday morning session.
