Presents instruments employed in the clinical laboratory setting with regard to purpose, design, maintenance, and management. Focuses on technologies such as centrifuges, microscopes, hematology analyzers, blood gas analyzers, electrolyte analyzers, clinical chemistry analyzers, and tissue processors. Lecture/Laboratory: 2.0 credits (37.5 contact hours).

Section notes
Prereq: BIO 135 with a grade of C or better BTS 110 with a grade of C or better BTS 125 with a grade of C or better BTS 140 with a grade of C or better. This course is open to both non-EOA and EOA BTS program students. Online coursework is supplemented with either five on-campus lab sessions (as a non-EOA student) or equivalent use-of-time within a hospital environment (as an EOA student). On-campus lab sessions will be held on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and a repeat session will be held on the following Wednesday afternoon during the hours from 1 pm to 4 pm for those who cannot attend the Tuseday morning session.
