Catalog description

This course introduces students to the history of modern philosophy, including the major tenets of Rationalism, Empiricism, Idealism, and Existentialism. Topics may include skepticism, mind/body dualism, identity, the sources of knowledge, the nature of reality, and the problem of induction. Readings will include selections drawn from the primary texts of Descartes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant as well as other primary and secondary sources on the modern philosophers.
