General Chemistry and Qualitative Analysis

Catalog description
This course completes the year-long general chemistry sequence (1A-1B) and covers the principles of physical and inorganic chemistry with an emphasis on quantitative, mathematical problem solving. Topics covered include acid-base theory, chemical kinetics, equilibrium (acid-base, hydrolysis, and solubility), chemical thermodynamics, electrochemistry, selected topics in nuclear chemistry, coordination chemistry, and/or chemistry of selected groups. Students will analyze inorganic compounds qualitatively and quantitatively. PREREQUISITES: CHEM 1A, AND MATH 103 or 4P or 3A or C2210 (Formerly MATH5A or equivalent. ADVISORIES: ENGL C1000 or ENGL C1000H (A, Cal-GETC, CSU, UC) (C-ID CHEM 120S: CHEM 1A & CHEM 1B)
