Focuses on texts written by Mexican women from the Baroque Period to present times. Novels, poetry, periodical excerpts, and short stories that discuss social and cultural issues central to Mexico through the lens of women are read. The texts studied aim to deconstruct the idea that women were not subjects in Mexican literature. Writers include: Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, editors from the newspaper Violetas de Anáhuac, Nelly Campobello, Rosario Castellanos, Laura Esquivel, Margarita Dalton, Angelina Muñiz-Huberman, Cristina Rivera Garza, Ángeles Mastretta, Guadalupe Nettel, Valeria Luiselli.
