Catalog description

Examines processes, models, and instruments for evaluating learners struggling with literacy for the purposes of diagnostic assessment for clinical reports and data-based individualization/interventions. Students create and use diagnostic reports to develop and implement individualized literacy/reading improvement plans (L/RIPS) for intensifying interventions through the systematic use of assessment data, validated interventions, and scientific research-based adaptation strategies in the framework of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Students learn to critically evaluate the impact of program, district, or state-wide assessment decisions on students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders. May be repeated once for degree credit.
