Catalog description

Introduces students to the main arguments about the causes of war and peace in today's world. The course begins with traditional European approaches to explaining the frequency of war and violent conflict. The focus then turns to the conditions and mechanisms that reduce violence, resolve conflict, and create conditions for peace. The last portion of the course focuses on alternative visions of international relations from non-Western sources. Students are assessed through in-class projects, exams, and an independent research report. <i>CU/GT/ICL/IPJ</i>
