PH 492
Quantum Computing II
Loyola University Maryland · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
A study of advanced topics and applications in quantum computing. Topics include quantum Fourier transformation, eigenvalue estimation, and their applications such as Shor's algorithm and the HHL algorithm. Other topics may include an introduction to quantum machine learning using quantum kernels and quantum variational methods, quantum computing as applied to quantum chemistry, and quantum error correction. Quantum circuit simulation using Qiskit and Pennylane is used to reinforce understanding. A course project provides an opportunity to study an open research problem in quantum computation. Written or electronic permission of the instructor. Closed to students who have taken CS 492. Same course as EG 492.
