Provides instruction, mentoring, and coaching for educators pursuing National Board for Professional Teaching Certification, with a dedicated track for professional school counselors. The course introduces candidates to the standards, key vocabulary, and core components of the certification process, laying the groundwork for portfolio development while examining the depth and breadth of professional practice. The course emphasizes designing units of instruction within a school counseling context, writing measurable goals for lessons, groups, and counseling sessions, and applying effective instructional strategies, student engagement techniques, and feedback practices. Guidance on videotaping for reflective practice and submission is also included.
