Catalog description

Reinforces the understanding of the unique challenges and qualities that first-generation students bring to college campuses across the U.S. Students learn through readings, group discussion, and reflection how first-generation students are changing the landscape of higher education, both nationally and at Loyola University Maryland. In addition to exploring how a Jesuit education inherently facilitates first-generation student success, first-generation student experiences, best practices for supporting first-generation students, and research on student retention are critically examined.
