Catalog description
Examines the basic concepts and models of health economics. Students learn to understand and critique the health care industry and proposed policies. Topics include the institutional and economic structure of the health care industry; the incentives provided by the market, government, and insurance; the private and public demand; production; and the political economy of health care. Students delve deeper into a specific area by conducting original research on a topic they develop in conjunction with the professor. <i>IHE</i>
