Catalog description

Examines the theory and practice of the economic development of nations. The first segment focuses on the meaning of development. The second segment considers the internal and external forces that encourage or discourage economic development. The course closes with a consideration of special topics such as the link between development, environment, education, and income distribution. Students delve deeper into a specific area by conducting original research and writing a paper on a topic they develop in conjunction with the professor. <i>Closed to students who have taken EC448.
