Introduction to Data Science

Catalog description

Introduces the use of data science to provide guidance to strategic business decisions. Students learn to effectively identify, design, and implement integrated analytics solutions to business problems. Major topics include strategic decision making; the formulation of objectives; the development of alternatives; multi-objective value analysis; and simulation. Technologies considered include Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive Analytics; Monte Carlo simulation; optimization models; cloud computing; enterprise software for decision support; and data visualization. <i>This course serves as the foundation for the data science specialization and requires some background utilizing computer programs.
