Catalog description
An upper-level introduction to the issues surrounding popular culture and ways to study it. The American arts and entertainment industry is an economic and cultural powerhouse that influences how we live our everyday lives as well as our beliefs and values. Students learn how to use different tools for analyzing songs, movies, TV shows and social media to go much deeper than just saying "I love" or "hate" a song or movie, including using interdisciplinary, cross-cultural comparisons to better understand the cultural work done by media texts. IU
