Topics for discussion include the structure and function of microbes; microbial metabolism, nutrition, and growth; the control of microorganisms in the environment and in the body; the classification of microorganisms and viruses; infection and immunity; and applied microbiology. An overview of microbial diseases by body system is also provided.
