Restorative Processes in Conflict Resolution

Catalog description

This course prepares community members and professionals from all fields to apply Restorative Practices to their contexts. The curriculum focuses on proactive techniques to mitigate harm and responsive techniques to address harm, connecting anti-oppression and Restorative Justice, and leadership methods to implement systemic organizational restorative change. Specific restorative practices which students will learn include self-regulation, restorative mindsets and language, facilitation of a variety of Circles, restorative conversations, restorative mediation, and contracting. Through additional online seminars, students will strengthen their knowledge of the history, theory, research, and practice of Restorative Justice. The culminating focus of the course invites students to apply restorative principles and practices in their own setting.
