Catalog description

Study of structured, evidence-based literacy instruction for K–6 learners across the five domains of literacy: foundational skills, meaning making, language development, effective expression, and content knowledge. Students examine current research and apply instructional practices that support students in developing scaffolded literacy skills. The course emphasizes alignment with California content standards and literacy teaching performance expectations (TPE 7). Students design tiered instruction, implement formative assessments, and engage in reflective practice to support the development of equitable and effective early literacy skills.
