Catalog description

This course provides an overview of the development and history of a modern sterile processing department. Introduction to central services, regulations and standards for sterile processing, and infection prevention is discussed. Review of medical terminology, microbiology, and surgical instrumentation. Review and demonstration of decontamination, disinfection, and assembly and packaging of surgical instrumentation. This course includes both a lecture and laboratory component.
