Catalog description

This course is for students enrolled in the phlebotomy program. Introduction of the student to the profession of clinical laboratory science as it relates to the phlebotomist. This includes organizational structure of hospitals and laboratories; medical ethics; related medical terminology; quality assurance; laboratory safety; specimen processing; and knowledge of basic routine test procedures in hematology, immunohematology, microbiology, serology, urinalysis and clinical chemistry. Competency required in the performance of venipuncture and micro skin puncture techniques. Laboratory required. (A special fee will be assessed). (CTAG)
