Catalog description

This course introduces the student to the role of the nurse in providing safe, patient and family-centered care for perinatal, intrapartum, and, neonatal patients and their families in simulation lab and a variety of clinical settings. The focus of this course is on human growth and development, health promotion for the perinatal client families and the incorporation of evidence-based practices in the formulation of coordinated nursing care. This course continues to build on the concepts of oxygenation, mobility, perfusion, metabolism, nutrition, reproduction/sexuality, immunity, cognition, and legal issues as they relate to the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal patient and their families. Application of the nursing process with consideration for perinatal and neonatal patients and their families are included in this course. Clinical required. (a special fee will be assessed)(CTAG)
