This course provides students with a survey of American technological development within the framework of U.S. history in a global context, from the Colonial Period into the Twenty-First Century. It examines the roles played by individuals and institutions in the development of new and existing technologies, and how these developments both influenced and were influenced by social, political and cultural events of the day.
